THC-O And Everything There Is To Know About It

THIS PSYCHOACTIVE CANNABINOID IS GETTING A LOT OF ATTENTION. HERE WE TELL YOU WHY.

Currently there are several cannabinoids that we have already heard a lot about, such as THC, CBD or even CBC. However, there are some cannabinoids that have recently gained popularity in the market due to their potency and possible effects. Such is the case of THC-O-Acetate or THC-O.

THC-O is a synthetic cannabinoid derived from hemp. The questions surrounding it are quite a few, ranging from whether it is good for us, whether it is legal, and what its effects are. No doubt there is still a lot to know about the synthetic compound.

Here we tell you a little about THC-O and our recommended products.

What Is THC-O?

THC-O acetate, or THC-O, is a synthetic analog of THC. It sounds complicated, but although THC-O is indeed a cannabinoid, it is not naturally occurring and can only be safely manufactured using contemporary cannabis technology.

THC-O has intrigued us for various reasons,  most notably its potency and powerful effects. Researchers found that THC-O is about three times stronger than regular THC, but it is still under study.

Interestingly, the synthetic compound is often described as a psychedelic cannabinoid, as it offers some hallucinatory effects on the user.

To understand a little better: cannabinoids are chemical compounds that act on cannabinoid receptors in the brain. The thing with THC-O is that it is not a natural cannabinoid like THC and CBD. So it takes some pretty strong chemistry to create THC-O in a lab.

Is THC-O Safe?

It is important to know that it is a compound that is just beginning to be studied and that there is not yet sufficient scientific evidence to consider it safe or not. Anecdotal evidence suggests that THC-O has considerable therapeutic potential when used in certain ways, but nothing has yet been proven.

It likewise appears to hold promise for people with high THC tolerance, with THC-O products being an option that would fit into their lifestyle much more elegantly than more recreationally dosed products.

We should be clear: there is no data to suggest that THC-O is especially dangerous, but there is also none to suggest that it is completely safe. The best recommendation is to proceed with caution and in small doses.

Is THC-O Legal?

Currently, this cannabinoid is in a gray area as to its legality. Some states say yes because it is derived from federally legal hemp. Others are not as supportive of the compound’s legality.

However, the potency and chemical composition of THC-O suggest an uncertain future. Although derived from hemp, THC-O is technically analogous to a Schedule I drug and could itself be a Schedule I drug based on the Federal Analogue Act of 1986. However, as long as its supply chain can be traced back to federally legal hemp, THC-O is in enough gray area to slip under the regulatory radar, at least for now.

That said, there are a number of reputable hemp brands currently offering their THC-O products. As with anything you buy in the beautiful world of cannabis, you should be careful where you get it from, which is why we recommend products from Binoid or Elyxr, companies with serious commitments to their customers and the high quality of their products.
