There’s no shortage of unique devices in the cannabis industry. While they all have different purposes, styles, and features, we can all agree that many of them aren’t necessarily “clean” or good quality.
Many of them have fibrous wicks, toxic glues, and plastics, all of which are inhaled with every single use. Never settle for devices that don’t truly enhance your cannabis experience. Instead, look to Puffco.
Not only does the brand take pride in elevating your consumption, but doing it effortlessly and in the cleanest, most flavorful way possible. Read on to learn more about Puffco, the one and only Puffco Peak, and our exclusive interview with the company’s CEO, Roger Volodarsky.
What inspired you to create Puffco and enter the world of cannabis e-rigs and vaporizers?
I started Puffco back in 2013 when New York wasn’t as cannabis-friendly as it is today—8 grams of hash was considered a felony. To keep a lower profile, I would use vape pens to smoke concentrates, but they weren’t the best quality back then. Some vape pens would melt from the plastic; others would just break in your pocket or come dead on arrival. It was obvious that the technology wasn’t keeping up with how concentrates were evolving, so that’s what led to Puffco.
What was Puffco’s first product, and how does it compare to your flagship product today?
The first version of our dab pen was released in 2013. However, it was the Puffco Pro pen that introduced us to the world in 2014 and really put us on the radar. At the time, it was the first vaporizer pen with temperature control, a large capacity chamber, and no glues used in the atomizer construction. Ten years later, we still prioritize flavor and temperature control, chamber innovation, and the materials that go into our devices. The difference between our first product and where we are now is the team behind the products. Our first products were designed and managed by me, but now we have a full team of experts in their fields. So now it feels like we have limitless possibilities in what we create.
What was the inspiration behind the creation of the Puffco Peak? What problems or issues did this device solve for consumers?
I was exclusively dabbing in 2015/2016 but having the hardest time getting my friends to try dabs. The stigma around dabbing and traditional dab rigs was a huge roadblock for them experiencing this amazing product. This inspired us to create a de-stigmatized device that people could walk around with just like people did with beer bottles. Not only did it revolutionize how people consume hash today, but it also solved the safety concerns that came with using a torch and banger. This accessibility started to usher in a new generation of hash connoisseurs.
Does Puffco have any exciting projects down the pipeline? What’s your next move?
We just announced details around our third annual community festival, Puffcon, taking place in downtown Los Angeles in September. This year is going to be even bigger with artists like 2 Chainz and Curren$y, more brands in The Lot, including Talking Terps and Fidels, and live glass blowing by Ryan Fitt.
We’re really focused on growing the hash community, especially as more markets open in the U.S. and globally, and educating people on concentrates. The internet is full of so much misinformation on cannabis concentrates, and we want people to know what we know, which is that hash is one of the best ways to consume cannabis. It’s been around much longer than people think, and I hope more awareness of that legacy brings more newcomers to the space.
