These snacks are a game-changer when the munchies hit.

Snacking on your favorite munchies is great, until you start feeling your unhealthy options catch up to you. Whether it’s weight gain, lethargy, poor mental health, or digestive issues, there are various ways unhealthy food can impact us.

We know our fellow stoners get hungry, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, if you’re looking to snack on something a bit more beneficial, you’ve come to the right place.

Whether you’re looking to lose weight or simply eat healthier, we’ve gathered a list of 8 healthy munchies for guilt-free snacking. Without further ado, here are your options:

Chia Pudding

Chia seeds are incredibly versatile. You can add them to almost anything, and they’ll help you stay full longer. They also contain essential nutrients you might be missing out on.

Making chia pudding is incredibly easy. Add a tablespoon of chia seeds to a bowl, a tablespoon of milk (skim, oat, almond, etc.), and a little maple syrup or honey for sweetness. Let it sit for at least half an hour (or overnight), and enjoy.

Apples & Peanut Butter

You know what they say, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apples are incredibly beneficial by providing essential nutrients like vitamin C and potassium, not to mention being a great source of fiber.

Extra points if you’re using all-natural peanut butter or almond butter. Slice up an apple, take a spoonful of peanut butter, and crunch on this delightful healthy snack.

Yogurt & Berries

Yogurt is wildly beneficial for your gut microbiome. It contains healthy bacteria known as probiotics that nourish the good bacteria in your gut. A healthy gut leads to a healthy body and mind.

When you’re stoned and craving something sweet, have a bowl of yogurt and drop a handful of berries in the mix. It will leave you satisfied every time.

Rice Cakes

If you prefer salty and crunchy snacks, rice cakes are a great option. Of course, you could opt for low-sodium options, but regardless, rice cakes are low in calories, fat, and sugar, and they’re also gluten-free. Crunch on these rounds next time you need a stoned snack.

Crunchy Kale Chips

Here’s an even healthier option than rice cakes. When you’re looking to crunch to your heart’s content in front of a good movie, kale chips are an excellent choice.

They’re incredibly easy to make too. Simply lay out some dry kale on a baking sheet, and drizzle with olive oil, salt, and any seasoning of your choice. Bake at 300°F for 10-15 minutes, and consider your munchies cured.

Tomatoes, Cheese, & Balsamic

This is one of my favorite snacks of all time, but it takes some preparation. It’s best used with mozzarella or bocconcini cheese. Get toothpicks, cherry tomatoes, slices of cheese, and balsamic (vinegar, vinegarette, or glaze).

Make small skewers with cherry tomatoes and cheese, and drizzle some balsamic on top. If you have basil leaves, add one to each skewer for extra flavor. This snack always hits the spot.

Mixed Nuts

There’s nothing easier than snacking on some mixed nuts. Available at almost any store in various varieties and mixes, nuts are rich in healthy fats, protein, and fiber. For an even healthier option, ensure your nuts are unsalted.

Veggies & Hummus

When all else fails, you can’t go wrong with some veggies and dip. For a healthier dip option, consider using hummus, which is made with chickpeas and rich in protein.

Allergic to hummus? Try baba ghanoush, guacamole, Greek yogurt, beetroot dip, cream cheese, or salsa. Gather your favorite vegetables, give them a wash, and dip to your heart’s content.
