Before we get into how to make cannabis-infused simple syrup, you must know how to decarboxylate weed for making edibles.

How To Decarboxylate Cannabis

Eating straight-up raw cannabis flower won’t get you high.

In order to activate the psychoactive cannabinoids, we have to heat the flower, whether that’s from a flame or a heat source like an oven. Here’s how to do that.

  • Coarsely ground cannabis (chunks should be on the larger side)
  • Baking tray with raised edges
  • Parchment paper
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Oven mitt

  1. Preheat your oven to 240◦F (approximately 115.5◦C).
  2. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Evenly distribute your coarsely ground cannabis on your baking pan. Spacing the cannabis out is necessary to ensure the heat is evenly distributed.
  4. Toast the cannabis for a total of 40 minutes. Check on your herb at 20 minutes and gently stir. Check again at 30 minutes and take the herb out as soon as it begins to develop a light, toasted coloration.

How To Make Cannabis Simple Syrup

  • 1 gram of decarboxylated cannabis flower, strain of your choice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable glycerin

  • Start by decarboxylating your weed. Once that has finished, take out a medium saucepan to make the simple syrup.
  • Pour your water and sugar into the pan and bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
  • Reduce heat and add your decarboxylated cannabis. Allow the mixture to simmer for 20-30 minutes.
  • Add your vegetable glycerin. This binds to the psychoactive cannabinoid THC to ensure you’ll feel the effects. Simmer for another 10 minutes.
  • Cool and store your cannabis-infused simple syrup in an airtight container like a mason jar, and add it to any beverage of your choice.
